Introducing the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985 in Platinum and Rose Gold
Jaeger-LeCoultre introduces a new collection, enriching its elegance.
Launched in 2013, the Master Grande Tradition collection showcases Jaeger-LeCoultre's most exquisite complications, seamlessly blending the elegance of a classic round case with the brand's unrivaled craftsmanship. Since its inception, the collection has been a showcase of technical prowess, inspired by the quest for precision and constantly pushing the boundaries of watchmaking. This year, the Master Grande Tradition Calibre 985 returns with two new models in platinum and rose gold.
The case measures 42 mm in diameter and 13.27 mm in height. Both platinum models feature a blue dial, one with a polished bezel and the other with a bezel set with 72 baguette-cut diamonds totaling 3.4 carats. The third model features an 18K rose gold case and a warm brown dial. Each case is composed of over 80 individual components, featuring a variety of surface finishes including polishing, brushing, and micro-blasting.
The dial features a perpetual calendar subdial displaying the day, date, month, and year, with laser-engraved relief numerals and polished hands for exceptional legibility. A moon phase disc is set against a starry sky, complemented by a polished moon phase disc, and a flying tourbillon is located at 6 o'clock. The seconds are indicated on a 20-second arc below the tourbillon, measured by three hands on a rotating cage.
Powered by the Calibre 985 automatic movement, a highly complex 431-part movement, the flying tourbillon comprises 83 titanium components, weighs a mere 0.386 grams, and is equipped with a cylindrical balance spring. This rare balance spring design, originally invented in the 18th century, was revived by Jaeger-LeCoultre to enhance isochronism. The movement oscillates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz) and offers a 45-hour power reserve.
The sapphire crystal caseback reveals a 22k rose gold oscillating weight adorned with a sunray engraving and featuring a replica of the medal awarded to Antoine LeCoultre at the 1851 Great Exhibition in London for his groundbreaking watchmaking inventions, notably interchangeability and the million-meter.
The platinum model is presented with a blue alligator leather strap and a pin buckle, while the rose gold model is presented with a brown alligator leather strap and a double-folding clasp.
